Classic and Vintage Cars Exempt from the VED

Here's some great news for those that own a classic car or vehicle that was manufactured before 1^st January 1974. As of April 1^st 2014, these vehicles will be exempt from the VED (Finance Bill 2014, as set out in the 2013 Budget, 20th March 2013).

Classic Cars – Are they tax-exempt?

Not all classic cars are exempt from tax however any car that was built prior to 1^st January 1973 qualifies for zero road tax, as it is considered a historic car by the DVLA. Although classic cars prior to this period are tax exempt, a tax disc still needs to be displayed. However, this is only for proof and you will not have to spend a penny.
